Four months on already...
The only way that I can describe this month is.....hectic! Returning to work, having a fantastic skiing break, celebrating Angie & Barry's milestone anniversary, a lobbying trip to Westminster (as you do) plus all of the usual household chores and merrying around of the children to their social engagements, has left me one exhausted mummy. I have found that I have not had a lot of time to reflect or gather my thoughts this month and I am working on striking that right home/work life balance. It is a working progress!! This month has also been tinged with further sadness for our family, as we have had to say goodbye to a very dear friend, also taken too soon from this world. The dignity and positivity of this incredible and close family, is helping me to continue to look to the future for hope and happiness.
This month, I also received a long awaited keepsake of my own - a ring, of which the glass has been made with and contains Steve's ashes. Steve wanted to be cremated in order that a part of him could be kept close to us. It is a beautiful piece of jewellery and already provides me with great comfort. It sits on my left hand, next to the eternity ring that Steve bought me for my 30th birthday.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everybody today, who has taken part in WearAHatDay. The efforts of you all, but particularly the community in Bielefeld, has been amazing. It is such an important cause and charity and you have all helped raise the awareness of this today. For those of you who haven't posted your hat selfies or donated yet, there is still time! Text HAT to 70660 to donate £5 to Brain Tumour Research - 100% of your donation will go to the charity.
Lastly, this weekend is Emma's birthday. I cannot believe that she is going to be 8!! I say 8, but with the attitude of a 15 year old! We will be celebrating with Emma's wonderful godparents and cousins and I know that Steve will be singing her "Happy birthday" from up there in the stars. I hope she likes the necklace that I have had made for her, also from Steve's ashes xx
