​Our story

On March 17th 2015, the lives of our family and friends were changed forever when my beautiful husband, Steve, was admitted to hospital with a severe headache which devastatingly, turned out to be caused by a mass on his brain.  A month later, our worst fears were confirmed when we discovered that it was a Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade IV (GBM for short).  Steve's response to this was one of sheer bravery and determination.  He likened the treatment to facing a "hill and a headwind".



Our mission

Currently a GBM is incurable, albeit treatable in some cases.  In Steve's case, it was initially treatable and he underwent brain surgery and a full resection of his tumour in April 2016.  What followed was a 9 month course of radio and chemotherapy.  However in January 2016, we learnt that his tumour was growing back, this time in a different position where surgery was not an option.  Steve endured further chemotherapy between May and November 2016, but this further treatment did not stunt or shrink his tumour.  Devastatingly, Steve passed away on November 30th 2016, aged just 37 years and 21 months post diagnosis. 

In Steve's memory, we are hoping to raise as much money as possible in order to help find a cure for this awful disease and to help other families who are living day-to-day, fighting this fight.  As such, we will continue to raise money for 2 UK charities; Brainstrust and Brain Tumour Research.

Brainstrust aim to improve clinical care for brain tumour sufferers and provide co-ordinated support in the search for treatment.  

Brain Tumour Research are doing great work to campaign for greater research and funding into brain tumours nationally.
